Private screening of Oscar winning film:

Private Screening with a conversation by dnj Gallery owner/director, Pamela Schoenberg, dnj Gallery artist, Suda House and one of the film's executive producers, Sophie Ascheim.

and a special presentation by Suda House, and her "Women Bleed" project.
"For the last year and a half I have been collecting images of women published on the front page of major newspapers. The criteria for my selection, was that these women and chil- dren must be in some kind of distress or suffering. ... So I chose the most private and personal of objects that women use when they bleed. I used a digital transfer process to apply these images onto sanitary napkins. My intent be- came to heighten the viewers’ awareness that women bleed [and suffer]."

dnj Gallery artist -- Ellen Cantor

is presented in the current exhibition
Ellen Cantor examines light, time, and memory, and their combination through various junctures. She looks at colors, shape, and texture, as well as studying the passing of a period.  Her images display a flow, through beauty and awe that can only circulate through this kind of mixture.  Cantor begins considering the light, and how it changes within a certain phase (from morning to night, summer to winter, or one year to the next).  An investigation of the past (in a general purpose) and her personal history subsequently compliments this transition in time.  “By photographing and re-contextualizing precious memories, I have sought to understand how life proceeds, and then, ultimately disappears.  I document the artifacts of the past in order to enrich the present.”
