LACP's Sixth Annual Members' Exhibition Opening Reception

The Los Angeles Center of Photography (LACP) proudly presents its Sixth Annual Members’ exhibition, a beautiful collection of photography selected by Douglas McCulloh, Senior Curator of Exhibitions, California Museum of Photography, Riverside. CA. Douglas selected 50 images (from 39 photographers) for the exhibition at dnj Gallery, showing August 10 – 31, 2019. As part of its mission, LACP strives to support its Members in many ways, including this annual exhibition, open to Members only.

A big part of LACP’s mission is to provide “focused programming for youth and low-income families, and community outreach.” We take this very seriously. As a staple in the photographic community, our organization recognizes the importance of giving back by providing education in the photographic arts for underserved youth and other non-profits. This is accomplished through strategic programming at local schools, one-one-one mentoring, supporting local raffles or benefits, and providing our facility to those organizations in need.

Los Angeles Center of Photography: EXPOSURE 2015 Event

EXPOSURE 2015, was hosted by the Los Angeles Center of Photography, this past Saturday, here at dnj Gallery. The event turned out to be a successful day of Portfolio Reviews offered by museum curators, gallery owners, publishers, collectors and other photo professionals.

EXPOSURE 2015 which will take place on Saturday, July 25th, here at dnj Gallery. EXPOSURE will include a full day of Portfolio Reviews followed by the LACP Member's Exhibition. Portfolio reviews offer photographers an excellent opportunity to show their work directly to museum curators, gallery owners, publishers, collectors and other photo professionals.

The portfolio Reviews will take place 9 am-5 pm. EXPOSURE will culminate with the LACP Members Exhibition Opening that night from 6-8 pm, here at dnj Gallery.

Upcoming Exhibition: First Annual LACP Student Street Shooting in Los Angeles

The dnj Gallery and the Los Angeles Center of Photography are proud to announce "Street Shooting in Los Angeles." This exhibit is comprised of 28 photographs taken by 28 photographers under the guidance of street shooting instructor Julia Dean over a six-month period. Street photography is a type of documentary photography that captures candid moments on the street. This genre of photography follows the ethics of photojournalism and documentary photography by not setting up or manipulating the image.  As Julia Dean explains, "Street photography can be a bit scary and exhilarating at the same time. But one thing is for certain, it will make you a better photographer."
